Quick answer
- Every real AI chatbot has a one-time setup fee and a monthly care fee. Be careful with anyone offering no monthly care.
- What moves the price: languages, voice notes, how many tools it connects to, and how many branches.
- On top: Meta's WhatsApp message fees (paid to Meta) and AI usage, which grow with your chat volume.
The three costs in any chatbot
- Setup (one time) — designing the conversations, connecting your menu or price list, your POS or sheet, and testing on real chats.
- Monthly care — hosting, watching the chats, fixing what trips the bot, and improving it.
- Usage — Meta's per-message WhatsApp fees, and the AI model's usage. These depend on how many customers chat with you.
Typical price ranges in Pakistan (2026)
| Option | What you get | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| DIY template tool | Menu-button bot, no real AI, you build it yourself | Monthly subscription, often in USD |
| Freelancer bot | Basic bot, little testing, support not guaranteed | Low setup, often no monthly care |
| Agency-built AI chatbot | Understands Urdu and voice notes, connected to your systems, looked after monthly | Setup + monthly care, quoted after a free check-up |
| Full system | Chat + voice + dashboard + POS / CRM, many branches | Quoted after a check-up call |
What makes a chatbot more expensive
- Connections — sending orders into a POS or CRM takes more work than sending them to a WhatsApp group.
- Branches and products — 5 branches with different menus and timings is more work than 1 shop.
- Payments and deals — deals, add-ons, delivery charges and payment links all need careful rules.
- Voice — understanding voice notes, or answering phone calls, adds cost.
- Languages — Urdu, Roman Urdu, English and Arabic all need testing.
What a cheap bot costs you later
The real cost of a bad bot is not the setup fee. It is wrong prices quoted to customers, orders that never reach the kitchen, and customers who give up. Ask any provider three questions:
- Where do prices come from — the AI's memory, or my live menu?
- What happens when a customer sends a voice note, or changes the order halfway?
- Who fixes it at 9pm on a Friday when something breaks?
Meta's message fees
Since 1 October 2026 Meta charges for replies after the first 1,000 a month per number. In our own client bills that worked out to roughly PKR 4 per reply to Pakistani customers. Full detail in WhatsApp Business API in Pakistan.
Is it worth it?
Compare the monthly cost with one staff member's salary, and with the orders you lose to slow replies at night and at peak time. For most businesses that get more than a few dozen WhatsApp messages a day, the bot pays for itself. If you get very few messages, a bot is probably not your first step; read what to automate first.
